Gonna post some photos from my Eastern Sierra road trip last weekend

Today, after months of requests, I toured the Broadview ICE Processing Facility. I want to share what I saw.

The facility has no food vendor, no medical care, and detainees have to use toilets in the middle of shared cells. These are in no way suitable conditions to be holding anyone — period.

This is a situation where crossing the streams would be catastrophic
Good morning. In the past 24 hours, more Americans have Googled “felching” than have searched for “turkey recipes”

Sick of the news so I’m watching a totally escapist movie about a grifter ginning up a moral panic so he can fleece the citizenry

There is only one sandwich, and it is the Reuben.

Pretty common sense stuff, should be in the Constitution tbh
You know, I'm not sure I ever really read the Pond Rules at our local nature preserve all that closely before

Especially if the different cars (Uber/Lyft, Waymo) result in a net increase in cars overall.

When I think about (or re-watch) Miller's Crossing it's my favorite. But then that happens with a couple of others as well.

Actually Abbott & Costello are the mad scientists. The funny guys are Abbott & Costello's comedy monsters.

I tend to like their deadpan movies better than the ones where they're telling you it's a comedy. (I do love Raising Arizona, though.)

Seems like an admission that some of their orders are illegal

This answers the question I had (can they just re-indict?). Looks very unlikely.
MORE: Judge Currie basically slams the door on re-indicting Comey here. She notes that "there is no legitimate peg" to extend the expired Sept. 30 statute of limitations. The window for James is a little wider. www.politico.com/news/2025/11...

If anyone ever did use Grok to roast Elmo, he would disable the feature in about 5 seconds

Yeah, I think Fargo is a better movie but Raising Arizona is a better comedy, because Fargo isn't really a comedy

Since my vast audience is clamoring for it, here you go (in no particular order, and depending on my mood there could be others in here):
Miller's Crossing
Fargo
No Country for Old Men
Blood Simple
True Grit
Lebowski isn't even in my top 5 Coen brothers movies. (And I say that having rewatched it the other night, and enjoyed it a lot.)

Me: Roast Elon Musk
Grok: I'm sorry, Elon Musk is a superior being who has no faults that could serve as fodder for amusement at his expense

The Great Dictator is well-intentioned and historically important, but mostly not that funny. Fargo is one of my favorite Coen brothers movies, but it's not a comedy. Annie Hall is a good movie and fairly funny, I could definitely see putting it in the top 99.

He’s trying desperately to prove Joyce Carol Oates wrong and it all has the exact opposite effect

It's a very weird list. The order seems semi-random. Of the top 10, I think 5 are definitely-should-be-near-the-top, #1 is a crazy pick, and 3 really don't belong that high. But I appreciate the inclusion of favorites like Women on the Verge... and The Tall Blond Man..., and Withnail & I.

No, Dershowitz is on Martha’s Vineyard trying to buy artisan delicacies from people who won’t sell to him, and lord only knows where Turley is.

San Francisco’s version of this is Sunset Dunes, which used to be the Great Highway. And it’s new enough that there are still a bunch of very angry people, But 10 years from now everyone will love the park and nobody will give a shit about the highway.
