Crystal Carey is not unknown to our #UArtsUnion… she was on the (losing!) team of @morganlewislaw.bsky.social lawyers hired by UArts admin to drag out negotiations on the UArts faculty contract for THREE years - a contract we won by calling for a strike vote.

Our members agree with @ingasaffron.bsky.social - former UArts Hamilton Hall should be kept in the arts!

The Eagles victory brought all of Philadelphia to Broad Street for a day. But arts and culture does that every day. We’ve got just six more days to save the oldest building on Broad for the arts. My column on the future of UArts flagship building: www.inquirer.com/real-estate/...
Mayor Parker can help keep the arts in the Avenue of the Arts — if she acts quickly
Lindsey Scannapieco, who turned the Bok Building into a hive for makers, is going toe-to-toe with a deep-pocketed developer to gain control of UArts' flagship building.

Thank you @pasenatorsaval.com for supporting the effort to keep UArts buildings in the arts!

Philly’s development of a dedicated arts district has been a tremendous point of pride. As the UArts bankruptcy has progressed, the court can safeguard its legacy by prioritizing affordable spaces for expression and education. I support Scout's bid for Hamilton and Furness Halls.

BREAKING: Two unions with over two million government workers are suing the Trump admin over illegal executive orders.

AFSCME and AFGE assert that Trump illegally exceeded his authority by unilaterally trying to roll back a regulation that protects civil servants.

This morning, we learned that President Trump fired Board Member Gwynne Wilcox, whose Senate-confirmed term runs until 2028.

This move must be called out for what it is—a frontal assault on the NLRB, its employees, workers, and the very idea of an independent civil service. 🚨

What’s disgusting? Union busting!

16 million workers were represented by a #union in 2024 while 60 million workers have said they would join a union if they could. Why the disconnect? Anti-union employers spend $433 million per year on union-avoidance consultants, according to @epi.org research. www.epi.org/publication/...

The closure of UArts was an enormous loss for our city’s world-class arts community. The sale of its campus should prioritize buyers that will safeguard its legacy and uphold a vision of the Avenue of the Arts as a nexus of creative expression, collaboration, and education.
Should arts buildings remain in the arts community in the case of bankruptcy? The sale of UArts’ assets may hinge on the answer.
The Pennsylvania Attorney General has objected to the Arts Bank sale to Quadro Bay, arguing that state law requires that the donor’s intent and charitable purposes of the property be considered.
