The Meta glasses are very popular with visually impaired users who are able to afford them. The camera can either stream what's in front of them to an assistant or to AI to describe. Then the built in speakers can play it back along with other app audio e.g. Soundscape.

The quote makes it sound like it might be great for the visually impaired community, but reading the article it does sound truly dreadful for everyone else.

Impressed how close her kitchen came to the budget of zero!

I'm glad they raised the first one by 2mm on the left...

I was talking to someone about how 16% of undergrads at St. Andrews were from the US. They were saying how brave it was to travel so far from home. It is, but as you say it is far less deadly.

I had to turn on roaming when in southern Galloway in Scotland as the signal from the Isle of Man was winning the battle...almost counts as going abroad.

There are so many great museums, but I loved the musical instrument museum. It did have a synthesiser exhibition on at the time which was an extra bonus!

If you're thinking back to London of the past you'd likely enjoy this: To the World's End: Scenes and Characters on a London Bus Route: www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0074ry7
It sent me down a rabbit hole reading about the amazing shopkeeper at the end.
To the World's End: Scenes and Characters on a London Bus Route
First transmitted in 1985, To the World's End follows the No. 31 London bus from Camden Town to World's End, Chelsea, meeting characters who live and work along the route.

That's brilliant! Is Nello in there? I think his clown egg was mentioned in the film Marvellous.

I've been working with some people with visual impairment recently and they love smart glasses. I gave the Microsoft Seeing AI app a go and I can absolutely understand why. Well worth a quick download. For anyone else, absolutely get in the bin.

I just caught the last 20 minutes and it was fascinating. I'll definitely be catching up on the rest.

AI for the win... "There's no set "average" trouser loss per farce, as it depends on many factors including the specific type of farce, the actors' weight fluctuations, and the nature of the costume design. However, it's generally accepted that losing weight can lead to needing new clothing..."

Just googling 'average trouser loss per farce'...

We loved your show yesterday. It was really properly funny and moving. I'll probably clean the kitchen later and I'll definitely be living.

When walking across the Queensferry crossing before it opened I noticed it was well equipped with ultrasonic anemometers measuring the speed and direction in 3D. I haven't yet got round to making one... embedded-lab.com/blog/tag/diy...

Scotland at its finest. I've seen more palm trees today than probably on any other holiday.

Part of the camera shop experience might be that the way many men shop is different. Internet research and purchase trump real life shopping. I literally took up a hobby (making clothes) so that I could avoid going shopping.

Maybe we just all need our own trailers? Or if we got rid of personal cars we could all have caravans instead and the self driving things could just pull them...
I'm now imagining larger self drive trucks pulling trains of caravans - solar powered and always moving.

Worthh waiting for the brilliant helicopter at the end!
