Former Chancellor Nadhim Zahawi has defected to Reform. He came to Britain as an 11 year old without a word of English.

A decade ago, Zahawi was advocating (as Boris Johnson was too) for an "amnesty" to give regularise those without legal status in the UK

Nadim Zahawi arrived in the UK from Iraq as a child refugee. His family claimed asylum once they were here. Today he has joined Reform who will stop all in country asylum applications. Under his new party, his own family fleeing persecution would be immediately deported.

Another danger is that the yanks extract the oil they stole and burn it in stupid huge cars because they give two hoots about climate change.

Just listened to R&A rambling on pointlessly about the Venezuela invasion. It confirmed how right I've been not to listen to TRIP for the last few months. @therestpolitics.bsky.social

The political media in the UK tripping over themselves to report, broadcast and comment on Nigel Farage’s remarks on the situation in Venezuela.

And that’s exactly why we’re in the situation we’re in right now.

Reform UK won’t say ‘private’ when talking about the NHS. Richard Tice is calling it ‘independent’:

"Instead of giving £26bn to the already bloated wasteful NHS, we proposed easing pressure on the health service by incentivising those who can afford to pay more to go independent with a tax break."

Among the many reasons you don’t kidnap a foreign head of state at gunpoint even if you have the capability, is that it sparks consequences you can neither control nor anticipate.

One of the people the USA killed in Venezuela was Rosa Gonzalez, 80 who they blew up in her apartment.

Will you hear this on the European News?

I doubt it.

More chaotic responses from @octopus.energy customer services. They'd accumulated masses of my money in overpayments so I asked for some back. No response. Then there was an unannounced payment into my bank a/c so I had to ask 'Is that it? Reply- yes. Then diff info the next day. God help us!

I'd advise against - this podcast has become overwhelmed with advertising and the content is not worth the subscription.
Happy Xmas especially to dedicated viewers/listeners of @therestpolitics.bsky.social who even today are demanding an episode!! More on 2025 ups and downs, personal and cultural highlights, books, films, TV shows etc. enjoy wherever you get your podcasts. As you can see from the pics it is a mix!1/2
