I got so many signs from the universe this week that affirmed what I knew in my heart & mind: I was never the problem, I wasn't too much, my expectations weren't unreasonable, I was right to set boundaries & reclaim my time, and some people are just not good people.

The fatal flaw in the "just leave the country" influencer talk is some of us have family here we care about, and we don't want to abandon them, even if financially, some of us could go. There's a bias in that perspective that ignores the generational economic & communal reality of some of us.

In Chicago, I had several (male and female) in elementary school and middle school, two pivotal ones in high school (both Black men, a counselor and my AP English teacher), and 3 in college. In law school, three Black women and one Black man--three professors, one dean--were godsends.
