The building of datacentres to support growth in AI usage has caused a massive increase in the price of computer memory as it's all snapped up by corporations. The 2x16GB sticks I put in a system in 2023 for $159 now cost $429. Production for 2028 is already being pre-sold. There's no end in sight.
