Hard to say, AI and twitter's Grok in particular is rape culture adjacent with its abject loathing of consent. So the opt-out button was probably just a useless toggle all along.
That said. Not feeding the machine anymore is still important, and ditching twitter weakens its influence.

I left when Grok was announced, I got more numbers over there, but I get more meaningful interactions here! Plus everything's slower so I feel like I get to see more stuff from my friends
