They've now killed at least 34 people, and the only evidence they've given us is vibes
Cold War fever: US targets Colombia and Venezuela

34 people killed in 50 days. Their guilt or innocence unknown, for an alleged crime that doesn't carry a death sentence. That's a lot of death.

This is true in a _David Graber's Bullshit Jobs_ kind of way. The same phenomenon of workers being alienated within Capitalism can be understood as a rationale to dismantle it or to exacerbate it. It would depend on whether one's analysis includes a systemic view or an individualistic one.

There isn't a lot of positive guidance for young men these days. We tend to focus more on what we want men NOT to be than what we want them to strive for.

With that in mind, I released a video laying out some of the virtues of a Healthy Masculinity. Hope you enjoy!

Psst: Stop burning stuff on Earth for energy. Let the burning fireball in the sky be your energy source.
NEW: Biofuels globally emit more than the fossil fuels they replace, our latest study shows.

The first-of-a-kind study looks at global biofuels production today and the potential impacts of government biofuel targets.

Of course. I'm not expecting any movie to contain all-encompasing cultural and political critique. I wanted to point out the liberal mindset blindspots that allow one to conceive a totalitarian corporate government but to overlook the fact that marginalized folks would not survive it.
It's always telling that The Economist is able to name Communism and Socialism but needs to euphemize Fascism.
Näyttääpä siis siltä, että fasismin kautta tässä mennään. Kuten olen pitkään pelännyt.

Henkiinjääneet sitten varmaan tajuavat, että olipa hölmö idea.

3. The JG creates a mechanism for setting wages and working standards across the whole economy. If the JG implements living wages, a 35 hour workweek, workplace democracy, etc., the private sector will need to match these standards if they want to retain staff.

2. The JG creates a mechanism for *reorienting* labour toward socially and ecologically beneficial activities, and *increasing* production where necessary (renewable energy development, public transit expansion, regenerative agriculture, ecological restoration, care, etc.),

1. The JG creates a mechanism for *preventing* any unemployment that may arise from downscaling ecologically destructive and socially unnecessary industries (eg, fossil fuels, SUVs, fast fashion, etc),
Connected to that is this story that would be the unholy spawn of Black Mirror and Wall-e. Amazon = Buy n Large
Disney-Pixar of course failed to make the connection between fascism and rule by megacorporations. That panel of captains looks too "DEI" for technofascists' taste.

It also avoids the mealy-mouthed backtracking where the pundit gets to cover by saying “I don’t fully believe this thing I said, I was just trying to achieve this end.”

I agree and why I think Coates is correct is because Klein and other pundits are terrible prognosticators and strategists. So writing your truth is the only responsible and accurate course.
Since the Ezra & Ta-Nehisi discussion is still happening: the main point I think most are missing is that Klein is saying the role of the journalist-intellectual is to do strategic politics, whereas Coates says the role of the journalist-intellectual is to tell the truth

Thoughts can evolve and change but your contract with the audience is to move from truth to greater truth, not unspoken strategy to the next unspoken strategy.

Such things include the sharing of knowledge, the welcoming of immigrants, and the mixing of culture (e.g., a British printer making an Asian design). It reminds me how classic American style lives on in Japan through menswear enthusiasts, as comedian Mic Nguyen joked below

We are currently living through a time when liberalism is backsliding. People are questioning things we once took for granted, such as international trade and multiculturalism. Ethnic absolutism is on the rise, as ethnic identity is treated as fixed, pure, and the natural basis for belonging.

Glad Science collected this data (though the results are entirely unsurprising). GenAI cannot accurately summarize scientific papers, sacrificing accuracy for simplicity.

And shame on publishers who are pushing genAI summaries on readers. Great way to accelerate an epistemic apocalypse.
What's worse they are unable to decode the irony-deep-fried, brainrot, meme-poisoned, ideologies that define the discourse motivating this kind of political violence. They're trying to use a yardstick to plot a hyperdimensional political space into a one-dimensional "left-right" spectrum.
