Fact, I used to have three mains: Kazuya, Nina and, to an extent, Dragunov.
By the time I reached T6 I was still struggling so I picked whatever high tier character was in : King, Steve, Leroy etc.
But it didn't felt like me so, even tho, I was still struggling I prefer to lock in with my OG'.

It is what it is, you should obviously learn about frames, punish, combos, the lexicon but the pleasure and will to train hours, days and even weeks will come only with a character you like, this is what will motivate you.

Speaking of this, there's many great guides and beginner friendly videos about Tekken and what character you should start with but my philosophy is this :

You will never enjoy or even learn Tekken without a character you feel connected to, no matter how hard they look like.
