As an obscenely online person, I find it very odd to have apparently completely missed an "online sensation" only to be exposed to it in real life.

Okay, but like, both? All?

Having a large array of sticks to beat AI with is not really a problem as long as people are willing to pick one up and get to the beating.
Hot take perhaps, but the environmental impact of AI is far worse and more worrying than the plagiarism or copyright issues... and the conversation largely being focused on the latter is honestly frustrating.

A trilogy of suspenseful murder mystery detective novellas set in Jupiter's atmosphere, after something destroys life on Earth. There's academic shenanigans, terrorism, endangered species theft, mass disappearances, a journey to Io, and the fate of the Earth at stake.

I'm starting to think that the people who are always insisting that everything is a slippery slope, are not good judges of which hills are slippery and which ones are not.

That's cool, they even let me disagree on what the comparable replacement would be.

I'm not positive this is what happened, but I strongly suspect that I managed to not wash my hands at any point between cutting up jalapenos last night... and taking out my contact lenses.

Whatever it was, that was a nasty surprise this morning.

Should all novellas heavily focus on robot characters? Maybe not, but also... maybe?

When you try to moderate on immigration, you end up using the same language as the racists and xenophobes because moderate language has always been the thin veil that covered those things.
The only antidote - and I do mean the ONLY one - to Trump and Miller's xenophobia is a full-throated defense of immigration and a full-throated attack on the racism and xenophobia currently guiding immigration policy. You can't half-ass this one, you can't Very Reasonable Limits this one.

One of the super cool things about this is that even if they don't have the book you want to read, if you let them know, they will often times buy a copy.

That actually helps authors... and is free to you.
You can go to your local library exactly ONE time and get a free membership there that lets you download all kinds of ebooks, audiobooks, streaming movies, the works. Do that
