Read this if you're wondering how Code of Conduct teams go wrong. It's hard, and not a job/team to be taken lightly. This is an A+ explanation everyone should read and boost.

a key thing about vought — and all of these guys — is that they have a totally top down and hierarchical vision of the world. they believe that the cultural changes they hate can be turned off by destroying the federal government because they can’t imagine that they emerged bottom-up in society
What he’s railing against is a profound shift in culture, status… He’s obsessed with the idea that America is controlled by a leftist “ruling elite” - but “elite” isn’t defined socio-economically or by political power, it means something like: Getting to define “real America” and who gets to belong.

just wrote an .envrc to unload volta and load corepack, as one does. This means whenever I run node, I get a shim (quickenv) that loads a shim (corepack/volta) that loads a real binary.
Makes me apprechiate that Rust only has one version manager and not N.

macOS quarantine is really funny because it does everything in its power to prevent me from running a downloaded rust binary from any terminal, yet arbitrary shellscripts are okay. what if the shellscript I downloaded contained a binary and xattr call? whoops!

Sam Altman: I see humans achieving omnipotence using dark matter by… 2030 maybe? That’s if OpenAI is given a quadrillion dollars
Theo Von: Yeah
Altman: Or, we may become a race of slaves, genetically modified to be harvested by robot spiders. That’s if OpenAI doesn’t get the money
Von: Right

JavaScript should have concurrency control builtin. i.e. tokio's JoinSet or just some kind of semaphore.

Seeing this reminded me of a pattern I've noticed among passionate LLM/Gen AI advocates on here:
A number of them are bad at talking to people, in a weird and specific way.

You wouldn't believe the shit I get send each week from people working in industry/gov. We are entirely unprepared for the mess this is creating.
I'd send them to journalistic outlets with their inside info, but they too are entirely incapable of analyzing and presenting all of this properly.

These custom feeds in bluesky are pretty great but seem hard to create, and are still a blackbox.
In Mastodon I can just follow a hashtag. That's not as good but the barrier to entry for creating one is much lower.

Errol Musk has always been anti-Apartheid, but during Apartheid P.W. Botha's [the National Party prime minister] wife and daughter would stay with them because they were such close friends... amazing how that works
