Something that will be super hard to digest for Microsoft is that Game Pass, by its nature, cannibalizes sales. That's not intrinsically anything but moving $ from sales to subscription has a massive impact on public perception of value.
Terrible launch for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 in Europe. The game sold 63% fewer copies at launch compared with Battlefield 6. It's also more than 60% down over last year's Black Ops 6. (Digital and physical sales. GSD Data) www.thegamebusiness.com/p/call-of-du...

But a strong launch for Ubisoft's Anno 117: Pax Romana

It's really sad watching Lewis Hamilton struggle. This era of car has not been kind of think, maybe the next will, but in the mean time I don't think he's doing anything to justify his contract, let alone a drive.

Yes! This is so important! Machine Learning is doing wonderful things like mapping Martian craters and analyzing microbe genomes. LLMs are a very specific form & it’s them doing these huge amounts of harm. I also sometimes say “Gen AI”
when I mean both LLMs and art generators; I try to never say AI
Journalist challenge: Use “Machine Learning” when you mean machine learning and “LLM” when you mean LLM. Ditch “AI” as a catch-all term, it’s not useful for readers and it helps companies trying to confuse the public by obscuring the roles played by different technologies. 🧪

Spore was huge. My friends and I would spend hours messing with the creator. Hours.
Tbh kids today have no idea how hyped Spore was before it came out. It was GTA VI levels of hype for its day and then it came out and was just Spore.
I’m excited to sit down with this new game I bought. It’s called Spore ever heard of it? Now where is my cd-drive….

When I was younger and had what felt like infinite gamer time I used to lament mission it episode structure because it felt like having all these forced breaks killed the flow.

Now that I am old every time Pokemon ZA makes me go back to the hotel I am like THANK GOD BED TIME

I'm not trying to start anything but I kind of think Roger Ebert was more wrong than right.

Guy called Mouse Hunt "not very funny, and maybe couldn't have been very funny no matter what".

Zero love for Kash Patel and his facilitation of authoritarianism but the podcast Left's comfort with attacking his physical appearance is at generically pathetic and at odds with their espoused beliefs and at worst openly racist.

There's some people you meet who accidentally curse you to a much stranger and weirder life than you might otherwise have had.

I've started listening to random instrumental playlists instead of putting some random NBC show on in the background and evenings are so much chiller and also more conspiratorial in my home lol

Reeks of AI BS but why did they make him so short?

He's like, over 7 feet in the armor and that tree makes him look like a lil boy.

We can and should boycott The Game Awards. We can just not talk about it at all, not go, totally ignore the whole thing and just report about the trailers when they go up on YouTube.

A better world is possible!

It's easy to blame the corporatists and marketers for this failure and we should!

There's really cool tech powering stuff that makes our lives better that isn't built on theft engines.
Conflating machine learning tools with GenAI and LLMs are such a favorite of these bad faith arguments, too. Like, machines studying X-rays to better understand cancer is not the same thing as Open AI swallowing all my books via piracy to regurgitate sentences that sound similar. It's just not.

Something that is super funny to me about the LOTR movies is how basically armor doesn't matter at all and anyone without plot armor dies in one hit.

This administration wants to kill people
Congress’s shutdown deal eliminated key food safety rules, blocking agencies from enforcing measures to prevent contamination and trace outbreaks. This rollback has coincided with a surge in hospitalizations and deaths from foodborne illnesses.

There's probably a lot of reasons but one familiar to me is stimming.

I don't really even "want" to do this. Sometimes it feels like if even 1% of my brain is not engaged then 0% is engaged.

For a group of people, our "normal" is barrage of stimulus.
lots of people i know listen to podcasts while playing games, even story-heavy single-player games, and i struggle so much to comprehend why anyone would want to do this
