NEW Britain's economy did not collapse after the #Romans left

A new, unbroken timeline of British metal production from the 5th century AD to the present day questions the idea of a post-Roman 'Dark Age'.

Strap in for an industrious #AntiquityThread 1/12 🧵

At our Wollaton dig, we’ve uncovered barbed wire, shreds of clothing, and a possible boot heel plate that may link to the 1945 camp which housed German and Italian prisoners.

We’ve also recovered artefacts dating back to the Medieval period!

What have the #Romans ever done for us? New research suggests Britain's economy didn't collapse after the Romans left, questioning the idea of a post-Roman 'Dark Age'.

💥conference in Grantham:

Fieldwalking: Past, Present ... and Future?

Once a mainstay of #archaeology fieldwalking has fallen out of favour. Hear about projects where it’s been used and why it is still important on Sept 24th.

Carnivores, caves, #fossils and #archaeology. I’m really enjoying chatting with Meir about the Pleistocene and the beasties that inhabited it. Nothing like a bit of #Quaternary #palaeontology to start the #palaeoecological thoughts going again. It’s great to have you join us in Nottingham, Meir!
