I hope Yoongi, who went first to show them all the way, has been helping Hobi, who took a Lolla-to-Lolla full circle, and they can now welcome Jin, who held it down by himself for a year, with a soft place to land.

I hope there is some kind of comfort they can take in each other, the three who know what it is like to hold down a tour by himself, who know what it is like to come to the end of that tour alone, exhausted and emotional and slammed back into the rest of your life like the end of a moving walkway.

Once Jin is in LA, I hope at least one night he and Hobi lock eyes, then turn to Yoongi. Maybe Yoongi is squintgrinning at one of the others, but when he sees Jin and Hobi looking a little lost, he beckons them over, serious and kind.

It’s the short story that a chunk of later Mystic Nine episodes are based on: there’s the different tribes, the sacred tree that eats babies, etc, only with extra bits of creepy lore. And, you know, overly complicated and strangely translated context-setting within the dmbj timeline. Ish.

It was the Records of Xiangxi in the horror short story collection Sinophagia translated by Xueting Ni. Overall it’s a good collection and translation, but absolutely anything related to dmbj lore was nigh incomprehensible, even knowing who/what they’re talking about!

There’s just something about not being able to hear your voice as it’s mixed in with thousands of others, even when you can feel your throat screaming along with the song. Jin may be the main attraction, but so is being a part of something with Army.

This was my best photo of the night (Park Shinwon never disappoints on guitar💜), and you can barely see Jin! It really was all about being there singing along in the moment.

Best new tweak to my Concert-Going Setup: a little magnetic leash thing for my earplugs (a la Beats Flex earbuds) so I can pop them in and out without worrying about losing them. Made it much easier to sing along with my voice getting lost in the crowd rather than echoing in my head.

I just do not understand the translation choice to refer to Er Yuehong, Qi Tiezui, and Zhang Qishan as February Red, Ironmouth Qi, and…Zhang Qishan. I get there’s a lot of wordplay with names’ meanings, but the lack of internal consistency on what is and isn’t translated makes my brain itch. #dmbj
