The guy who came up with but failed to monetize "danger flutes." I’m a fan of the Senators from Ottawa and I have a Substack about bin-diving for records at rabbitholerecords.substack.com

Sens fans saying the season is over are being wet blankets. You all know it gets way worse than this.

Dylan Cozens, notable defensive black hole, blocking shots with his body during key plays of a tie game. You love to see it.

“Ottawa will have a James Reimer / Hunter Shepard tandem by mid-season.”

“Okay grandma, let’s get you back to bed.”

A key component of white supremacist ideology is that the militant white supremacist groups exist to PROVOKE a race war. Their belief is that if that conflicts begins, the white majority will join their side of the fight and will successfully turn America into a white ethno nationalist state.

Love that the piece of shit liar who everyone knows is a piece of shit and a liar turned out to be a lying piece of shit but still managed to tank the market in the process.

This is really good. I don't know if other teams have this level of transparency, maybe they do? But not something I was accustomed to seeing from previous iterations of the team, I.E., when it was ruled by an evil warlord.
Catch up on the latest Mendes Monday Musings 📰

This week’s column covers Linus Ullmark’s return, how his first interview back was handled, and a look back at Canadian Tire Centre history!

I can't recall another mid-career pro being so authentic and vulnerable about mental health as Ullmark in that interview. I'm sure there will be a barrage of takes, but I hope most or all acknowledge how valuable that is when we're talking something bigger than the season or the game.

My prediction for today’s Ullmark story going live is that everyone acts really cool about it and the vibes are improved and nobody gets in their feelings about Ottawa or Canada or hockey and social media doesn’t amplify anything negative and we all feel much better by the end of the day.

Wild stuff over at OC Transpo. The whole article is full of hard-to-believe lines like these. Feels like the system is about to cascade into total failure.

So, big TSN interview with Ullmark this week. We’ll finally learn the reason for his absence from the team, which I predict is that he got super into Warhammer 40k.
If you’re not reading Mendes Monday Musings, they can be a genuinely cool behind the scenes view of communications for an NHL team. I don’t know if other teams have this level of transparency, but it’s exactly the kind of thing the Sens needed after the Melnyk years.

If Europeans who are concerned with America’s behavior proceed to elect a series of far right governments over the next year, you really gotta ask what we’re even doing here.

My feed is a combination of “things have never been darker, I hope America halts this backward slide into fascism” posts and “things have never been darker, I hope the Ottawa Senators can find a goalie capable of putting up a .885% save percentage” posts.

The median team save percentage this year is 0.893%. #Sens would have *29 less goals against* this season with that type of performance in net. Top three in the Eastern Conference after Tampa Bay and Carolina.

The audacity of the Timmy goal and the Sanderson goal with slow motion replay of him yelling “let’s fucking go” are some mighty high highs for what was otherwise an unnecessarily crushing evening. Good night!

The analog of the Sens being actually really good but with all time bad goaltending is when you see a band play and they’re really good and then the singer opens his mouth and it’s like, oh, I don’t like this band. The Sens are Death Cab for Cutie.

Vote for politicians who will:
1) make taxes more regressive so that you can grow your wealth over time
2) subsidize the value of your home by freezing construction, further hoarding your wealth
3) maintain welfare benefits specifically for yourself
