Maybe it's the weather, or insane current affairs, but I'm slipping into the "disengaging" mode. Bsky is good, but SM in general isn't what it used to be. Always navigating egos & agendas. Even with filters, bad news is a constant.

Smashwords. I purchased an entire series from an author I liked. DRM free ePub. Easy process. No tomfoolery. You get an email of the epub and can also download it from your account. Smashwords has been around for ages, so they're not a fly by night operation.

I watched her video. I hear her and sympathize with these women-owned, Black-owned, disabled-owned businesses. While certain places are on my 'avoid' list, no matter where I spend, I will aim to be more intentional and thoughtful about who gets my dollars.

There is PLENTY of talent in every country, the Caribbean included. If a character is from a Caribbean country, please, please, please, hire a narrator from THAT country. Voice actors aren't exclusive to the US, UK and Canada. Come on, it's 2025. Make an effort.

Listening to an audiobook based in Trinidad & Tobago, & written by a Trinbagonian author. Who at a publisher is responsible for hiring narrators for audiobooks?
There is nothing more jarring than listening to a narrator with a fake "Caribbean accent". Good gosh.
