The short version is, Trump was genuinely charmed to the extent he can be genuine about anything. That said, it remains difficult for me to think of Trump as in any way of sound mind. Something like this would never have happened during his first term.

Honestly this is the whole of the appeal of white supremacy in a nutshell. There’s nothing more to it.
one of the big lessons re conservatives and especially conservative christians is that they are more satisfied by being comparatively better off than others rather than being better off in absolute terms.

Yeah, I don’t know what to say. Many of these people are terrible and will likely in their own ways continue to be, but if we can force them to a restored sense of shame and decency, we will certainly be better off.
She’s lying, of course, but it is noteworthy that the feels like she has to lie and say these things. She’s a weathervane and this is a sign of the way the wind is blowing.

A lot of people seem to neglect that it doesn't matter if the Epstein files end up being "not that bad" relative to expectations. The cover-up is the crime, as it was with Nixon. That Trump is doing so much to stop it means whatever is in there will have that much more legitimacy with the public.

He really was perfect casting for his character in Revolutionary Road. Like the character came screaming into life to steal the show in the source material and then Shannon in his small but unforgettable role in the film.
