A warning about declining healthcare from the AMA. Once again nothing from government.

The major problem with AB healthcare?

It will be interesting to see the gov decision on this.

Let me just say that in all areas of medicine, prevention is far cheaper than treatment. Vaccines prevent incredible costs in the acute care system.

This should be a no-brainer. But I guess, therein lies the rub...
With federal funding for COVID-19 vaccines ending, I checked in with the Alberta government about its plans for the immunization program.

Will COVID shots continue to be free for Albertans?

The provincial government appears to be undecided

The alt med 'industry' has been larger than the medical one for some time now.

The hysterical cry of "being in big pharma's pocket" is typically projection at its finest. (In a few, rare, cases it has been true.)

Those profiting the most are now being put in positions of influence.
“Earlier this year, McKinsey estimated the global market for what it calls “consumer wellness” products at $1.8 trillion—making it roughly twice the size of the pharmaceutical industry.”

I have to say that this is the last thing we should be doing.

Our future prosperity depends primarily on a healthy, educated population. So the fundamentals of government (us collectively) should be to provide decent infrastructure, healthcare and education.

We are failing our future.

Fun fact: If someone quotes a post of yours in a way that is unwelcome (as is commonplace on Twitter/X) there is a tool to combat the unwanted attention. Simply click the three dot menu on the quote post & click "Detach quote". This removes your post from their quote post. Useful to know, do share!

Some specialties are well compensated and they deserve to be - the physicians have extensive training/education, and the procedures they perform are often high risk. Let's leave protection out of this - it is not related to access. 1/n
Canadian doctors make a very good living. They are paid for their services. They have their pick of employment opportunities. I worked in medical malpractice for years and can confirm they are well insured and protected.

This fee to jump the queue for family physicians is appalling and plain wrong.

Yes. Canada needs a national inquiry.

We have multiple health jurisdictions, all doing different things. What worked well? What didn't? What could we do better?

Why don't we learn from this and prepare for the next one?
