I finished Dragon Age #Veilguard. Didn't really get the hate. It was a lot of fun to play and I actually liked some of the stuff they did with the lore. I'd give it an 8/10. Also, how often do you get to romance a suave necromancer? Definitely team #Emmerich

So as an update, I am really liking Robert Aickman. "Choice of Weapons" is probably my favorite from this collection. Strongly recommend if you like the types of stories where you are thinking about and interpreting them long after you read them.
"What am I reading?" I'm about 2 stories into this collection and I really enjoy the writing style. Think slow burn weird fiction that becomes increasingly unsettling as the story goes on. Also incredible prose. Will post more thoughts when I am finished. #horror #books #horrorlit

I've been teaching a musical acoustics class (I'm a physics professor), and I've been really impressed with end of the semester presentations. When the students not only understand the material but also teach me something, I know I did my job.

The secret is that other writers aren't competition; they're peers, colleagues and friends. Someone who reads me is going to read other writers as well; the entire publishing economy is "yes, and." Therefore it does me no harm, and much good, to support other writers and to wish them well.
And Heinlein would have approved! Terry Pratchett said, "Most SF writers were once fans. There's a habit they have, not of paying back, but of paying forward; I know of no other branch of literature where the established "names" so keenly encourage wannabe writers to become their future competitors
