Layoffs directly after launch is a normalized part of the dev cycle. But who's responsible for that? Not the actual game workers.

It's time we take our power back.

NEW: ProbablyMonsters—which we reported on last year for alleged mismanagement and waves of unannounced layoffs—is still seemingly laying off employees.

Some worked on Ire: A Prologue, which CEO Harold Ryan said last year was meant to drive interest in a new franchise.

There's a saying in organizing that "every unionized worker carries an ununionized worker on their back." We're doing our part! 💪❤️
Last repost is a great example of why a union is statistically proven to raise conditions for everyone, whether they're in a union or not: because union members OFTEN vote to make their privileges & knowledge open to all.

It's union members who do that work, learn those skills, set that up for you!

This is grim.

Please Gamedevs, take more breaks. Set boundaries. You're no good to anybody when you're crunching.

Worth noting that years later, the team that worked on Beast Breaker is now getting revshare from day 1 of this re-release, because it was negotiated by Vodeo Workers United! 🥲

a really cool debut from the first unionized game studio in north america. tragic that Vodeo shut down early and never got to make more stuff, but nice to see this get a wider release; well worth checking out!
Beast Breaker meant the world to us~ and now Vodeo Games' first release is coming to Steam!

Enjoy our brick-breaking adventure to take down tyrants with your diverse family (both related & found). Relevant today, relevant always.

Sometimes I think it'd be a good idea for CEOs to be scored, Metacritic-style, based on how others evaluate how they run a company. I like to imagine it would encourage more restraint. Their incompetence does real damage. You shouldn't have to suffer executives just because you want to be a gamedev.
