Inter are so fun to watch. Lots of short passes to progress play with the option to put it in behind. Thuram is incredible at always being an option and linking play with his teammates. Lautaro roams centrally and is another superb link.

I assume whoever this "journalist" was that asked this question was sacked just hours later, right? Right?

Competence and brain cells completely lacking.
Arne Slot was asked about the prospect of Xabi Alonso taking his job in the pre-Marseille press conference. He laughed, then claimed it to be "one of the weirdest questions" he'd ever been asked.

A Norwegian club beating the biggest cheaters in world football.

You love to see it.

Arteta insisting on Nwaneri moving from a club that protected Partey to one that protects Greenwood.

Tracks.

Not the question being asked here but still feel this is necessary to highlight, again.

Fumbling in the dark for an identity/style of play more than halfway through the season is **very very bad**.

In the short term that make results sporadic. The damage it does in the long term is the dagger.
Lots of debate about "arbitrary" stats on Liverpool's form/record right now.

There's so many ways you can look at it.

- 4 PL draws in a row
- 12 unbeaten all comps
- 5 wins in 17 in PL
- 10 wins in 22 in PL
- Arne Slot has the best win rate of any LFC manager

Which is fairest?

- There is also a proposal to remove a yellow card shown to a player who commits a Dogso offence when advantage is played and a goal is scored.

This makes zero sense. You’re through on goal. I grab your shirt with both hands and pull it off of you but you still score. I’m not booked for that?!
Law changes on the table at the Ifab this week:

🟥 DOGSO: Red cards for attacking phase not just fouled player (!)
❌ Wenger's offside to be canned
⌛️ Keeper "timeout"
📺 VAR: Corners, 2nd yellows
⏱️ Countdown for throw-ins & goal-kicks
➕ More!

AFCON might have peaked in stupidity last night reading and looking at the footage. A team walked off? The reserve keeper is throwing hands with about 5 ballboys and a Moroccan player for the Senegalese keepers' towel?

AFCON usually delivers funny and absurd moments but that surely takes the cake.

Look you can dress it up however you want. Are there mitigating reasons for the mess that is this season? Yes, obviously. Then I got two questions for you.

Is the loss of Jota the reason Slot's been awful with his tactics *all season*?

If the signs/hope of him turning it around are minimal........
One more thing I’ll say: Those who want the manager sacked are, in my opinion, in for a shock when a new fella arriving doesn’t suddenly fix an unbalanced squad full of players still grieving the loss of a friend & colleague. Because that’s what #LFC is right now & will be for a while longer.

Bring in Xabi.

Just brutal stuff. And since MW1 this season, it’s *how* the results have come that is the real dagger.
January 17, 2026 at 6:14 PM
If you don't think our missed chances (in extension 'killer instinct'), throughout the season I might add, aren't correlated to our fragile mentals you're out of your mind.
Imagine getting footballed by fucking Burnley at home. Could not be my team, fam.

This game is kinda the perfect example why Slot should go. At long last we finally made some positive changes tactically. Shorter attacks = better tempo & alertness. Made a big difference. But...

The mess is so deep rooted now that even when we make strides and dominate we fall.
January 17, 2026 at 5:07 PM
Holy shit we actually managed to escape a win here.
January 17, 2026 at 4:55 PM
Chiesa buddy. Giving them a very clear free-kick in their own box when we're pushing for a winner is not the way to go. You're gonna have to trust me on this.

Hannibal coming on? Take a quick red mate, like usual.

Stunning cross that Kerkez!
January 17, 2026 at 4:34 PM
Hilarious how this game is tied. We finally make progress in our approach and play. We create a ton. We miss everything. We gift them one chance that they waste and that's all it took to make us wobble and concede 2 mins later.
January 17, 2026 at 4:25 PM
1-1
January 17, 2026 at 4:23 PM
Wow. Burnley must score there. We're so lucky.
January 17, 2026 at 4:21 PM
Gakpo should've made it 2-0. Amazing play by Wirtz.
