Advice you probably won't follow: Everyone who lives where it gets cold should make themselves a pair of baggy, loose wool overpants that you can put on over whatever else you're wearing. I use mine for both sedentary afternoons and emergency pajama dog walks.

This is the way, y’all—we protect each other, and we know it.

Remember: RFK Jr. fired his last CDC director because she refused to ram through his anti-vax agenda.

Yesterday, RFK Jr.’s handpicked vaccine skeptics threw out DECADES of settled science — and Donald Trump gave a thumbs-up.

This will hurt American kids and families.

The change upends decades of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidance and goes against widespread public health consensus.

I see the timeline is talking about Brookline. Your jokes are all great but here are a few facts that aren't making it into the conversation:

-700 families use the Brookline food pantry each week
-3400 people live in public housing (5% of town's population)
-More than 50% households are renters

Hi, hivemind,
I need some Birkenstocks fully remade: new cork, footbed, sole. I used to use the repair service at Footprints, but they got too much press and don't take mail-ins anymore. I am having trouble trusting the sites that offer repairs. Anybody got one they've used and liked? Thanks!

Not to defend Olivia Nuzzi, who broke every rule in journalism and promoted a charlatan to his current position. But it's incredibly telling that she will lose her job, but RFK Jr. gets to stay in his job despite the reports of his drug use, his affairs and his defenestrating of public health.

imo reasoning implies agency and volition.

in general I think using anthropomorphizing language like "reasoning" is counterproductive because it shifts the discussion away from the actually valuable use cases for statistically-determined output

Let’s be CRYSTAL CLEAR:

If a man born Chet Williams became Chet Anderson when his stepfather adopted him as a toddler, and Samuel Anderson as a young adult because he didn’t want to be named after the man who abandoned him, his name on that wall would be Samuel Anderson.
There’d be no question.
