6 - Carlos Alcaraz is now the sixth male player in the Open Era to complete the Career Grand Slam after Rod Laver, Andre Agassi, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and his defeated opponent, Novak Djokovic. Pantheon.

Felt like a valedictory speech from Novak, he's too classy to impose his statement over Carlos's moment, but that felt like a moment. #AusOpen

Juan Carlos who?

And it is Carlos #AusOpen

We're 3 sets deep and this match has yet to ignite, it may never. Such is the challenge with finals: prestige does not equate to quality

What a cynical cash grab cloaked in the veneer of equality! Shifting women to BO5 is not about the sport or equal pay, it's more time to monetize a session selling Aperol Spritzes, sweatshirts and sandwiches. One that, given well-documented declines in attention spans is short-sighted.
WHY? The women's final was great! The best Novak/Carlos match ever was the 3 setter at the Olympics.

Sounds like the wind may not be a factor on Rod Laver Arena, but I'm surprised commentators weren't calling out Djokovic's (relative) struggles in windy conditions

For all the breathless anticipation ahead of this match, the tennis has not exactly been transcendent. Finals are often a hit-or-miss proposition, but we've got at least two sets to go #AusOpen

Carlos gets exactly the reply he needs, a stress-free 6-2 second set to even up the proceedings. #AusOpen

OK, if you're a tennis commentator on @espn.com , take note, there is NO "T" SOUND IN WIMBLEDON! #petpeeve

Novak gets exactly the start he needed, an unbothered 6-2 first stanza to the Serbian legend #AusOpen

I can't believe it's not Sinner #Djokovic wins!

American Eliot Spizziri takes the first set over world no. 1 and two time defending champ Jannik Sinner, @Espn(2) is showing college gymnastics. Super frustrating coverage

The current list of black men to win #USOpen singles:

Arthur Ashe

That's the list.

Felix is chasing serious history as well as Jannik Sinner in this semifinal.

Helluva set or major ATP-side plot twist? #USOpen Auger-Aliassime tires it up vs. Sinner
September 6, 2025 at 12:58 AM
I'll be honest, I'm excited about the new look mixed doubles at the US Open as a bold test case. That said, this event has taken all of the oxygen from Winston-Salem, Monterrey and Cleveland. I would've be excited if I were running events the week prior to the other majors.

Jim Courier just called for Challenger level tournaments to trial 2 sets plus a match tiebreaker, before potentially shifting tour events to that format, to solve the growing attention issues in #tennis. I could not agree more! Matches shouldn't be endurance tests for fans.

Agreed, fail fast and change course
Look, we tried it, it’s failed, now stop.

The extended masters format is a bad idea

👎 The tournaments drag on
👎 Players are breaking down
👎 Fans are fatigued
👎 Finals are scheduled on weekdays 👎 One tournament is running into the other

Enough

This schedule is ridiculous, why would we have a Thursday finish in Canada, and the first rounds starting in Cincy. Not a fan of the 12 day masters, not one iota

If you don't have a speech impediment and you don't know how to pronounce Iga Swiatek's name, how about you don't work for Tennis Channel?

It was just guts and gumption that got Mboko over the line in Montreal tonight. What a battle vs Rybakina

The Carlos Alcaraz experience: 15 minutes of sublime, otherworldly play followed by 10 minutes of THIS guy won five majors?!?
July 13, 2025 at 4:59 PM
People who know I love tennis always ask if I'm going to the final. I usually pass on buying those tickets because this kind of whitewashing is as much a possibility as a Sincaraz at Roland Garros instant classic.

Guess who missed the fact that the Wimbledon singles finals were shifted back to 11...
