Length of match does not equal entertainment value. Also, the final is one match that can always be a dud. 4 1/2 hr. first round matches don't benefit the fans or the players.

I disagree, it sounds like a slog. 2 sets and a match tiebreaker for tour events. Best of 3 for the majors.

As a fan, I just don't have the mental bandwidth for a five to six hour match regularly. There have certainly been a number of epic 5 setters, but we've seen plenty of tight, dramatic 3 hr plus 3-setters as well.

Do you mean sets to 4 like ATP Next Gen? I'd actually advocate for Best of 3 for men and women, 7 matches makes it a slam. I've seen too many five set slogs to revere the format.
