Maddow: There really is a Epstein Trump subplot in our lives now in which this footage exists and in which the Trump justice department put out a statement today saying, never mind all the things we ever said and hyped and screamed about Epstein.

🧵I think it’s important to understand what disinformation like Sen. Mike Lee’s tweets are trying to do, psychologically/cognitively. In my disinfo class/Substack, I talk about how disinfo often uses “moral disengagement strategies” to manipulate people into accepting harmful conduct 1/
This is an egregiously shameful tweet from a US senator

That is in fact what this administration has done.
Today’s “autism registry” is tomorrow’s hit list.

Reject Federal Autism Surveillance: Do not Comply w/ Eugenics-Adjacent Registry
Text SIGN PAQOEK to 50409 — I am writing to ask you to publicly reject and refuse to comply with any federal initiative that seeks to create a medical registry of autistic people in your state. According to recent reports, the NIH and CMS are moving forward with plans to use health records to track Americans with autism through a centralized “disease registry.” That framing alone — treating a neurotype as a disease to be traced — should raise alarms for any leader who understands the legacy of eugenics in this country. We’ve been here before. In the name of “public good,” this country once sterilized, segregated, and institutionalized people deemed biologically unfit. Those policies began with tracking and categorizing. The echoes of that era are unmistakable here. This isn’t public health. It’s surveillance. And I am asking you — as the highest elected official in our state— to make it clear: • That our state will not comply with a registry that targets disabled people; • That you will stand against any attempt to weaponize health data against autistic residents; • And that you reject the dehumanizing logic that frames neurodivergent people as a threat to be managed. Autism is not a disease. Autism is a neurotype and a natural variation in how human brains work. Creating databases that flag autistic people like biological risks is not only unethical — it’s dangerous. Please make it clear: Our state will not be part of that.

🖋️ “VOTE NO ON THE SAVE ACT!” hit 10,000 signers!
VOTE NO ON THE SAVE ACT!
Text SIGN PJUWYX to 50409 — I’m writing in strong opposition to H.R. 22, the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act. Congress has a constitutional responsibility to safeguard free and fair elections and ensure all American citizens can freely, securely, and easily exercise their right to vote. The SAVE Act represents a dangerous departure from fulfilling this duty, and as currently written, this bill will make it significantly harder, if not outright impossible, for millions of Republican, Democratic, and independent voters to register to vote and have their voices heard. Federal law already states that it is illegal for non-U.S. citizens to register to vote or cast a ballot in a federal election (18 U.S. C. § 1015). It’s an existing crime that is punishable by up to five years in prison. Election officials already use extensive state and federal data, including citizenship data, to verify an individual’s eligibility to cast a ballot. Introduction of the SAVE Act is the most recent example of a string of schemes to make voting more difficult for citizens, while hiding behind a thin veil of disinformation promoting false narratives of wide-spread voter fraud. Even President Trump’s Presidential Advisory Committee on Election Integrity was disbanded after it was not able to find evidence of widespread voter fraud in U.S. elections. Despite overwhelming evidence attesting to the integrity of federal elections, many Americans continue to voice concerns about our elections – we encourage Congress to be receptive to those concerns, but it must do so responsibly and constitutionally. Instead of proceeding with this dangerous bill, Congress should take actions that will strengthen our elections and ensure that all eligible voters have access to the ballot box. Please vote NO. Thanks.

Wisconsin's Supreme Court race is now the most expensive court race in U.S. history — largely due to donations from out-of-state billionaires.

As Justice Louis Brandeis said, we can have great wealth in the hands of a few, or we can have democracy, but we can't have both.

Read the ICE document for yourself that Karoline Leavitt refused to answer questions about. It says exactly what @AndrewFeinberg said; all it takes is "8 points" on a made-up rubric, and that can be just a tattoo (4 points) and displaying "logos" or "symbols" (4 points).
