A loud laugh echoes amongst the trees.
"Quite the predicament you're in, hm?"
Sanji cranes his neck until he catches pink out of the corner of his eye. Great.
Doflamingo has caught up to him.
"I'd be more worried about yours," he snaps.
"You know what happens to Warlords who get in our way?" He laughs. "Guess whatever
Kaido's gonna do to you will be worse though, when he learns there's no more Caesar and no more SAD."
Doflamingo is quiet, and he moves out of Sanji's field of vision. Sanji looks to the other side, watching Doflamingo warily as he circles the plant.
"You seem to have forgotten whose territory you're in, Black Leg Sanji," he says, his smile tight over his teeth. "You lured me to Green Bit to get away from your friends, didn't you?" His chest shakes as a laugh bubbles out of him. "You just sit here and have fun with Drosera. I'll show you a party once I've strung up your crew and dealt with Law."

A smear from the corner of his lip up his cheek, wiped hastily from the split of his swollen lip. "What's this?" Doflamingo asks, grin falling to a frown as he reaches out to inspect further.
With his index crooked under Sanji's chin, Doflamingo tilts his head to better see the damage. His thumb drifts over the swollen lip and trail of blood. It's expected: men in their line of work are not kind or soft fathers in his experience. Judge has not spared details of his discipline, ever boastful of his iron fist. What's not expected: the irritation that he feels seeing Sanji's marred face, not knowing how it came about. The sudden desire to tear the fingers from the fist that left this mark.
Sanji turns his head slightly, unconsciously leaning into the touch. He's a little disoriented, dizzied. By the glamor of Doflamingo's place, by the gentleness offered in the man's hand. A little out of it from the events of the day.

"Your lips are blue," he says, ignoring Sanji's pushing on what he was hired for rather than who he was hired for. His foot tips, pressing to Sanji's ribs more firmly.
Reflexively, Sanji wets his lips, tongue slipping out to warm them and tasting salt too.
"Great, they match my shorts," he quips, letting the pressure against his ribs take his treading back in the direction of the boat, and giving Doflamingo room in the water to spread out without bumping into each other.
Despite being raised with goosebumps, warmth spreads under Doflamingo's skin at the subconscious brush of Sanji's tongue. He feels like with the right words, he could guide Sanji into doing anything he'd like to see. And it is pretty, the way the warmth of his tongue eases the cold, how his lips turn upward just enough to prove he's being sarcastic. Like the low sun, the reflections in the water, something fleeting and pleasing because it disappears.

Little bit of a different vibe than my usual one for #WIPWednesday, 'cause I've been reading Tessa Gratton's "The Mercy Makers" and it's got me in the mood to experiment with something more dreamlike and sensual.

A long soak has always been an indulgence B'alith has never been able to turn down; he takes his time luxuriating in the steaming water, letting the liquid heat and the heady fragrance of perfumed bath salts unravel the tension in his muscles and soothe the rapid pace of his thoughts. He has been told the paints will work their magic more effectively on damp skin and open pores, but B'alith suspects the true motivation is merely to get him out of the way so he does not drive his husband to distraction with a thousand and one questions about reagents and formulae while he mixes the pigments.

He is feeling decidedly languid by the time he drains the tub and towels off, just enough so he will not leave puddles on the floor but not so much that rivulets of water will not trace paths down his neck and chest that he knows from prior experience will be a tantalizing distraction. A pleasant haziness has settled over his consciousness, not terribly unlike the way sex leaves him relaxed and pliant; the thought makes arousal curl low in his belly even as his thoughts try to drift toward what might have been in the cloth packet he had been told to add to the bathwater. Zhai'a knows him well enough that it would not have contained anything truly consciousness-altering, but the power of suggestion can be just as intoxicating.

B'alith gathers up the thick mass of his hair into a loose knot, fixing the auburn waves in place with a hairpin of carved pale green jade. The memory of the lover who had given it to him rises to the surface of his thoughts and he smiles, wondering what she would make of the ritual he is about to partake of.
