Oct 10, 1975: the City of Toronto serves formal notice of its intention to designate Toronto Union Station under the Ontario Heritage Act. The designation would have given the building far more protection than National Historic Site designation, which also occurred in 1975. 1/2

And no, "mom and pop" convenience stores are very much the minority. Like Tim Hortons franchisees, convenience store owners are very wealthy people who pay their people terribly, especially compared to the LCBO

This was a gift to millionaire franchisees who own these stores, and to the boards of directors of Couche Tard.

Most of these people are, coincidentally I'm sure, Conservative supporters. Harper himself is on Couche Tard's board.
