Yes - we seem to have landed in a place with no cover for the wider players, no experienced cover at no 9 and no specialist option at right-back. And some of us have been banging on about these deficiencies for months.

Don't disagree that it gives the impression of the club not quite knowing what it wants/who is ready for the first team. But it's not all down to FH of course, the sporting director is the main player here and this could be part of why Weir got the chop?

As long as he plays regularly you'd think he'll continue to develop. He's obviously gifted but so far he's only occasionally looked to be strong enough and on the pace for the PL. I think he's a 10 not a wide player though.

That's the thing - no cover out wide at all as far as I can see with Gruda and Watson both off.

Exactly what I thought when I read this piece. It's the club who've repeatedly stated our targets so how can fans be criticised for wanting to reach them? I'm supportive of FH but I accept some people see our current form as stagnation.

Nothing wrong with this analysis but we knew we needed another RB in the summer. Not least for succession planning for when Joel leaves. Perhaps this is one reason why Weir got canned? I wish the Athletic would do a bit more digging on subjects like that (or the Evan Ferguson story). #BHAFC
