When I moved across the country to my PhD program, I visited the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) and met some wonderful researchers that gave me a tour and talked with me about their work. I’m devastated to hear about the proposed dismantling. #SaveNCAR

They call it 'The Cloud' to make you think it floats.

In reality, it drinks.

By 2030, these 'clouds' will consume a trillion liters of water a year. Two-thirds of new data centers are being built in drought zones.

It's not atmospheric; it's parasitic. We are trading aquifers for autocompletes.

🧵ICE cut off her wedding ring.

Sue Tincher is a 55-year-old US citizen, a grandmother, 5’4’, and white.

She walked to her neighbor’s house after getting alerts that ICE was nearby.

She stood across the street and asked an officer if they were ICE. They told her to “get back.” She didn’t move.

I spoke with a current Interior Department staffer about Trump’s “day one” freeze on new wind permits. A judge found it “unlawful.”

They said, essentially, the damage’s already been done.

“It’s sad,” they told me, explaining how wind companies laid off staff and mothballed projects.

New from me:
Judge strikes down Trump’s order blocking wind farm approvals
A coalition of 18 attorneys general prevail in their lawsuit, saying Trump's freeze will raise their states' energy costs and jeopardize climate goals.

Next week we're releasing a major update of the Pacific Institute's Water Conflict Chronology -- the best open-source database on violence over water resources.

The news isn't good.

Any journalists interested in getting embargoed info prior to the release, reach out to me.

There are literally no decent republicans
It’s still hard to grasp that there aren’t 4 GOP Reps (who will otherwise be forgotten forever after retiring & likely defeated next year anyway) aren’t interested in going down in history as all-time 🇺🇸 heroes by caucusing with the Dems & giving them the majority to impeach Trump & save the Republic
Democrats should hold a press conference and announce that if Mike Johnson has no interest in running the House they'd be happy to do it for him
