Even as he enters the portal, I still stand by my take that Chiles is the most talented QB I've ever seen play for MSU. Poor play calling & putrid offensive line play prevented him from being what he had to talent to be, except for the games where the offensive line wasn't overmatched like BC & UMD

I was very skeptical of the Fitz hiring (and still am) but this news makes me a lot more optimistic. Getting a legend like Max back in the program while keeping on Rossi as someone who can show him the ropes as a DC is about as smart of a move as you can hope for

I'm surprised that Fitz didn't either make a splash hire (which I would have liked) or bring in one of "his guys" (which I would have hated) & instead decided to retain Rossi. I don't hate the idea as I feel he was making the best of a bad talent situation the last 2 years. Now announce coach Hawk!

I really despise that Penn State royally fucked up this coaching search then managed to hire the best guy I heard rumored to them. I guess I can take solace in the fact that they nuked their incoming freshman class and Franklin was probably still a better coach for them
