Without parity of features or access to the things we want (podcasts, Teams, WhatsApp, @nugs.net, @livephish.bsky.social , whatever), we're stuck with a shitty technology and no ability to control from the 182" touchscreen they insist upon us.

And that is forgetting the access to other apps which are too countless to list here. This is just as much on Google Automotive as it is the app makers, since I also cannot get native Apple Music in my Polestar (on a similar system, but one that allows both CarPlay and Android Auto).

In theory, you're not wrong - and I'm a major fan of CarPlay. But GM is doing it wrong - there is no native Apple Music, there is no native Messages for iPhone users. So, without a parity of features (which Tesla and somewhat even Rivian figured out), it's forcing us to use bluetooth, which SUCKS.

Especially since they don't seem to be doing very well financially right now... but they committed to this upgrade last January, and Volvo just announced they were doing the same with the EX90 (same platform/car), so it was surprising that Polestar stuck to their word
