Excellent thread outlining the significance of recent attacks on professors and academic freedom. I would just add that this targeted harassment and doxing has been happening for quite some time to K-12 educators caught up in the "Rainbow Panic" over the discussion of LGBTQ+ topics in schools.

Look at this sloppy question, which seems to ask for teachers' own opinions about ideal district policy, but offers answers about the scope of the First Amendment

Q: Should teachers be allowed to express their own political viewpoints int he classroom in order to persuade the students to adopt their point of view?
A. Yes, teachers have freedom of speech too, which does not stop at the classroom door
B. No, once you become a teacher, your freedom of speech in and out of the classroom is restricted
C. Yes, sometimes, when the issue involves civil rights or social justice
D. No, the classroom is not an appropriate venue for political activism
