Hello historians 🗃️! Planning on attending #AHA26 and have book ideas in mind?

See also: if you’re on an editorial board or in another role in which you recommend peer reviewers for journal articles. It’s ROUGH these days.
if your press asks for names, give 6 to 8--NOT the biggest, most senior stars in your field. None of them will do it. part of the problem is that the ppl best poised are "mid-career"--i.e. have a book, tenure. TWIST: the mid-career folx, IF THEY EXIST, are so fucking overloaded I can't even tell you

God, I loved this one. If you need a treat during the holidays, pick this one up. But warning: you will get hungry reading about his baking.
SECOND CHANCE ROMANCE is warm, cozy, & out today. I hope you love it! 💗

The story: A cranky baker's erroneous obituary brings the woman who got away back into his life--& now he needs to convince her to stay.
The heat level: steamy!
The baked goods: plentiful!

I received the reader reports back for my book manuscript. Thank you (you know who you are) for the most generous, supportive, & helpful comments!

I guess this book thing is happening! Look for Doctoring the West: Women Physicians and the Politics and Practice of Medicine sometime next year!

Just 3 New York guys.
Trump also just posted these photos to Truth Social, including the one with Mamdani standing next to a portrait of FDR. Trump mentioned Mamdani asked if he could have his picture taken there.

"It's an amazing portrait in the cabinet room," Trump said. "So he's a big fan of the New Deal, I guess..."

Love love love this baseball book, and the other two were already on my TBR!
It’s #RomanceColumn time and this month’s books are: a sweet and sexy second-chance m/m romance in Italy, a queer fake-dating Jewish baseball contemporary, and a light but tart romantasy about a villain’s henchwitch trying to do good after the villain’s defeat (gift link!).

Spent the afternoon touring Arlington National Cemetery with senior historian Allison Finkelstein. I love few things as much as listening to smart people talk about their expertise, so it was a true pleasure for me and other AHA staff members.

Editors have a really hard job, and the good ones can make something unreadable readable, and the great ones can make something unreadable into something good. But they're basically invisible, until someone tries to write without one.
