People also have a choice with those other professions and can avoid going to bad ones, whereas we have no choice with cops. We’re under their power. And they’ve abused that power for far too long (and again, the “good cops” have done nothing to reform it but give bad ones even more power to abuse).

Except the bad in other professions aren’t killing people, hun. They aren’t abusing power like cops do, destroying lives and families. And yes, if good cops keep doing nothing about the bad cops (and in fact give them more power to be bad with full immunity) then yes, that makes them all bad cops.

If good officers exist, then they need to do more to eliminate the bad cops and gain trust in the community so that it doesn’t look like the bulk of them are criminals themselves. In FL alone we see cops getting arrested weekly (usually for DV/SA, DUI or CSAM) and they don’t even always get fired.

But that oversight has been taken from us. That’s why we’re upset and want redistribution of funds. Community oversight has been mostly banned by the GOP and cops have been given immunity to just do crimes and disappear people and we’re supposed to just sit and watch them do whatever they want?

Pretty sure the opinion is based on experience…she’s far more qualified and has proven it over and over. These people have been begging her to step up and save them but when she does so, and runs for a more powerful seat, they say “not like that!” Which is just misogynoir.

My take on Trump ordering the removal of the Pride flag at the Stonewall National Monument in NYC is that he's a pedophile and rapist who is actively covering up his role in a massive sex trafficking operation that targeted children and doing everything he can to distract from that cover-up.

You can’t pretend to ignore the fact that over 40% of cops are self-admitted domestic violence abusers, or that dangerous cops are just transferred to other precincts and never held accountable, or that civil forfeiture is just cops robbing people. They need regulation. It’s out of control.

The problem is, the funding for things that actually PREVENT crime - housing, food security, education and healthcare - is being funneled to skyrocketing cop budgets, who are only getting less effective and more lethal as their qualifications are nil and their own criminal records are overlooked.

Because that’s literally their job. You don’t get a gold star for doing the bare minimum of your job. Name one other job in the world who would keep you on if your completion rate was 2% (cops only actually solve 2% of crime, and the crime they do solve is at the help of the community).

And most of those incidents don’t require guns and would be handled fine with a taser at most. Cops kill 3-4 people a day (and 25 dogs a day), usually because they’re scared of their own shadow like this story & when we need them to be armed, like in a school shooting, they hide.

I wish law enforcement would stop pretending unemployable agitators who have to rely on outrage engagement because they have no actual merit are “media.” A microphone and camera doesn’t make you a journalist just like wearing a stethoscope doesn’t make you a doctor.

I LOATHE GRADY. If he spent less time trying to sell bobbleheads and be a comedian on tv maybe his own cops wouldn’t be in the news every week getting arrested themselves. They’re just so awful. No sense of the actual law or morals. Just bullies with power.

“Limited exceptions” apparently doesn’t mean literally one of the most relevant structures in modern queer history…we told the pick-me’s it wasn’t just trans folks…but they thought if they ganged up with the bully on our own community it would take the target off of them even tho that NEVER HAPPENS.

Because cis/trans have been scientific adjectives/prefixes for CENTURIES and decades ago were applied to gender because that’s how language evolves. I’m declaring the adjective smart can no longer be used with the noun Republican.
