Pride and awareness days are important because that’s often the only place we learn LGBTQ history. We must learn it so we don’t repeat it. Notice anything familiar?

1933 - in Berlin, Nazis destroy over 20,000 books/papers/medical records of the world's first LGBTQ medical research institute (Institut für Sexualwissenschaft, 1919-33), to pretend LGBTQ people never existed and weren't researched and are instead, a new social construct targeting kids - they also introduce the false "groomer" trope

1946 - The word "homosexuality" is added to the Revised Standard Version of the Bible to substitute the Greek words "malakoi" and
"arsenokoitai" which actually described the sin of rape/pedophilia and not homosexuality/consensual sex (it was changed to "sexual perverts" in 1971, but conservative Christians still weaponized sexual perversion as homosexuality rather than rape and pedophilia)

1947 - 1975 The Lavender Scare (which actually continued into the
1990s) - during The Red Scare, LGBTQ people were purged from government positions as their "immorality" was considered a blackmail risk to national security that could be weaponized by communists

1948 - Truman signed Public Law 615 categorizing homosexuality as a mental illness, and therefore "sexual psychopaths" who should be arrested/institutionalized

1953 - Eisenhower signed EO 10450 banning all LGBTQ people from federal employment (reversed by the Civil Service Commission in 1975, but discrimination continued until anti-discrimination laws were passed in 1998 for federal employees - Obama fully repealed this EO in 2017)

1969 - Stonewall riot in NYC

1970 - first Pride March

1987 - sexual orientation finally removed from DSM as a mental illness (APA voted for the removal in 1973, but it took 14 years to fully remove)

2003 - Lawrence v Texas - SCOTUS strikes down sodomy laws and rules homosexuality is fully decriminalized in all US states

2009 - Matthew Shepard and James Byrd Jr Hate Crimes Prevention Act - expands 1968 federal hate crime law to include crimes motivated by sexual orientation, gender identity or disability

2011 - Don't Ask Don't Tell Repeal Act passed - homosexuals can now serve openly in the military

2011 - students have a right to an LGBTQ alliance club

2013 - gender dysphoria replaces gender identity disorder in the DSM because of stigma associating it with mental illness and not a biological disorder

2014 - DOE issues official discrimination protection for trans students under Title IX

2015 - ban on transgender military members lifted by Sec of Defense (Trump banned them again in 2019, which was reversed by Biden in 2021 and then Trump banned them again in 2025)

2015 - Obergefell v Hodges - SCOTUS legalizes same-sex marriage

2020 - Bostock v Clayton County - SCOTUS rules employment discrimination laws (Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964) apply to all
LGBTQ people (Title VII initially included transgender discrimination protection in 2012 and sexual orientation protection in 2015)

I really need people who call Biden genocide Joe to understand that the deal that Trump just made was Biden‘s deal. But Trump and BB worked together so that Bebe wouldn’t agree to it under Biden.
