Since it arrived I have had to repeatedly tell myself not to just pack my new hiking backpack for the fun of it.

Can anyone recommend a new and interesting album I could put into my ears. I’m currently listening to Eihwar and they’re bum.

Had an amazing "imbalance of the humours" moment last week. I was feeling really despairing & lost on joy. Sat about in it for like four days. Then I had a truly earth shattering dump & apparently everything was fine?

Excess of black bile causing melancholia apparently? Thanks, medieval medicine?

I’m enjoying Pluribus a lot but if I wanted to be cruel about it I would describe it as The Good Place for people who made a point of staying on Twitter and not going to Bluesky

Had my first person ask me about my weight loss with concern that I might be very ill today. Honestly, kinda great?

Really spins me out when I hear video gamers my age complaining about screen tearing and jaggies and that. Did you not have a PS2? Are you not basically blown away by how gorgeous every game looks these days?

Reading The Peripheral and enjoying both the mention of cronuts and a Tesla as a cool desirable car. This was published in 2014 you say?

I love how autocorrect on my phone is so keen to help me talk about the time the X-men spent living in the historic capital of Poland.

the platonic ideal way to consume entertainment is pro wrestling! there's no way for a 25 year old to have 40 years of content. but they can be in a room of excited people, be excited, and have someone later on tell them why it's deeper than they think.

Read Starling House by @alixeharrow.bsky.social this week and I absolutely loved it. In part because deep down I love it when a romance involves a brooding sickly boy but also the furious social commentary about poverty in the American South. A truly brilliant modern gothic romance/horror.

I can’t donate until early January, but maybe you can pals! It doesn’t even take half an hour.
Hi friends in Scotland. There’s currently a shortage of O+ and AB- blood donations coming up to the Christmas period and that’s when many stocks run low. I just discovered you can sign up online to donate! this is cool and I did it www.scotblood.co.uk

One of the worst symptoms of depression is the “nobody wants me here I should leave” spiral because when you’re feeling it? You’re invariably a miserable buzzkill that people don’t enjoy being around.

The good news is the fix is to spend time around people who like you and want to be around you.

Disgraceful from Waterstones; this will be their sixth mediocre bookshop in the city and there's absolutely no good reason to shop in any of them over the swathe of great independent bookshops in the city - of which Argonaut is the best.
Waterstones to open about 100m from Argonaut, a particularly nice indie bookshop. Quote from Waterstones management makes it sound like they got Argonaut mixed up with the gaming café next door.

I might not be at Thought Bubble this weekend but I am in my kitchen making an enormous batch of lamb stew and arranging the pans in a visually appealing way whilst listening to Jim Ghedi.

Fascinated to the extent that this trailer for Keeper is for a completely different film to the one I saw last night. This is a tense, complex psychological horror with no clear protagonist/antagonist divide.

The movie in cinemas is a badly paced folk horror with no idea what folklore feels like.
