hi. I'm mel. I write queer fantasy/romance (mostly mm and always hea). my books are available on several platforms ('zon, kobo, itchio) but there's also a cheeky-sneaky way to get them through my website (along with tw/cw, links, etc).

website has been updated. woo! there's a bit of a treat for folks who subscribe to my nonexistent newsletter (it'll make sense if you read the thing on the site, I promise).

anyway, yeah. it was a headache and a half, but I'm proud of how it turned out.

Attention gay monster lovers:

To celebrate spooky season and 5 YEARS of Lesser Known Monsters, my ebooks are on sale most places for October!

This includes the first book of the series (Lesser Known Monsters) being 0.99, the accompanying short story collection being FREE, and omnibus for 6.66 💙📚
Amazing artwork shaking a mm couple in a cemetery and the book Lesser Known Monsters and lots of arrows to the two characters labelling the tropes including cinnamon roll turns spicy, dark past seeking redemption, immortal x mortal, monster boyfriend, reluctant chosen one

ehhhh. but are you looking at, say, slasher horror when your library is entirely middle grade fantasy? because that's a little odd, right? so...never having catalogued a single romance novel and then liking one of my gay romance reviews? it's just *weird* to me.
wildfaeriecaps.com
it's always so weird when random folks like my reviews on goodreads. like...who are you? did you misclick? are you a bot? have you legit paused your self-help/YA/memoir reading to randomly be overcome by the review I left on a gay self-pub romance? you feeling alright? should I call someone for you?

#NYCC COME GET YOUR GAY BOOKS!

Hall 1B, Table WB-4, Writers Block - behind the JSA booth near Artists Alley 😘
Photo of my table at NYCC 2025. It has a lilac tablecloth with "AK Faulkner, Ravensword Press" in white on it.

On the table are many gay books, a shelf of more gay books, and a big neon sign which reads "GAY BOOKS"

🐦‍⬛TOMORROW🐦‍⬛

Here’s a sneak peek at the cover reveal for THIS HIDEOUS HEART, my sapphic, gothic horror romance reimagining of Poe’s most famous works 🕯️🫀

Coming this winter! You can add it to your Goodreads TBR: www.goodreads.com/book/show/22...
A stylized hot pink graphic with a subtle damask pattern. The mockup of the cover includes a sliver of the actual cover. It’s surrounded by a gothic looking frame and cobwebs with a dangling spider. It says COVER REVEAL at the top and TOMORROW at the bottom, with two silhouettes of crows standing guard.

oooof. I have no idea what I'm reading next. right now I'm devouring Map of Pain by Gale Ian Tate (and it's sooooooo good) but I can't even fathom what I'll be in the mood for next. maybe that Layla Reyne reread.
wildfaeriecaps.com
the list is truly too long. and I've lost track of who has bsky accounts anymore. but I'm super looking forward to a new book by Lori Ames that I picked up a while ago.
also thinking about rereading Layla Reyne's mutliple series for the third time this year--they're my happy place.

I've been so damned picky. I easily dnf four books a day. course...with the 1.5k I have to get through, it's hardly a drop in the bucket. o.0
wildfaeriecaps.com
I...dnf'd things outside of my...standards/mood? does that count? :P

queer romance. it's kind of where I've been for a while now. leaning more on the fantasy side just now. I do have some nonfiction I'm excited to get to soon, though.

likewise. <3
we've got this (and I will keep repeating that until I believe it or it proves true).

I miss writing, my friend. burnout and the scam of human bodies has been rough. <3

who just finished rereading an old wip and now has _ideas?_
that'd be me. I am excite.

(translation: thank you for doing this. you're amazing. but my tbr is weeping.)

how about queer fantasy/romance that has a propensity toward soul/fated mates, issues with authority, and found family?

all free on my website or for purchase elsewhere.

I'm liking the Charmed Away Temp Agency series (Dragon's Aide) well enough as a palate cleanser.

Boots was fun but Kiss Me felt a little copy-paste in ways (same emotional conflicts, etc).

Shepherd's Runaway was so short it was a blink, but a fun half hour for sure if fated mates are your thing.
wildfaeriecaps.com
Guarded was a reread and I distinctly recall enjoying the whole series (I'll be rereading those shortly). in fact, I've enjoyed everything I've ever read by Sean Ashcroft.

Taming His Vampire Mate was excellent, but you need to read the prior four books to really enjoy it. which I highly recommend.
