Although Trump has the broad power to grant a pardon or commutation to Maxwell, Raskin’s resolution would “put House members on record opposing a pardon for Maxwell, adding pressure to the White House if the chamber votes overwhelming in favor”

Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Maryland) introduced a symbolic measure to put House members on the record opposing a pardon for Jeffrey Epstein’s accomplice.

Everyone is looking for someone to blame for the DC National Guard shooting. Instead of that wasted energy, we should be asking the question nobody is asking, how did the shooter get his guns? What can we do as a country to make gun violence less likely?

Why POC collectively hold our breath when there’s a mass shooting or high profile crime before the suspect is even identified:

• Afghan man shoots a National Guard member:
With zero knowledge of the background or motive, the right screams that Muslims are terrorists and must be deported.

I’m sure they didn’t forget to redact Trump’s name.

Everyone (esp media) pay attention. In 2021 almost every Republican attacked the Biden administration and State dept for being too slow in approving Afghanistan special visas as Afghanistan fell.

Now they are attacking Biden for doing what they asked him to do.

Trump publicly attacked these lawmakers, calling them “traitors” & saying their words were “punishable by death.” This jeopardizes the military’s apolitical standing & represents a threat to free speech in the USA.

This #CupOfJoe goes to these 6 patriots.

🚨MAJOR BREAKING: MAGA is stunned into silence as news confirms National Guard shooter, Rahmanullah Lakanwal, entered the U.S. in 2021 and was vetted and granted LEGAL ASYLUM by the TRUMP ADMINISTRATION in April 2025.

Their entire narrative just collapsed.

Prediction: Some will seize on the shooting to try to pull Dems back to a position of cowardice on Trump's deportations, and Stephen Miller will scam dimwit commentators into making this case as well, but what happened ultimately won't dent public disapproval of the raids/arrests in the slightest.

It’s awful to hear that National Guard troops were shot after they were needlessly-and possibly illegally-deployed to Washington DC

Tomorrow many of us will sit down with our families for Thanksgiving-while they will likely be in hospital beds

So consider taking just one moment to think of them
My prayers are with the National Guard members injured in today’s senseless shooting. Grateful for the officers and first responders who moved quickly. There is no place for this kind of violence in our country.

the invasion of Afghanistan is among the most horrific recent chapters of the long history of elite impunity in the US. this coda is grim but fitting - the govt practically explicitly affirming that it should only be Afghans who live with the consequences amid fading public memory of the atrocity
It didn’t even take 6 hours.
