The meaning of ‘off grid’ is about to completely change as billions of us stop relying on distributed energy companies.
Among all the big bad things happening on our planet, there's one Big Good Thing, the sudden, startling rise of solar energy.
It changes the power dynamic, in every sense of the word 'power.'

In the past two years, without much notice, solar power has begun to truly transform the world’s energy system.

Maybe it’s time we focus on the people who are shooting children. And stop the culture war nonsense. @yvettecooper-mp.bsky.social

If I were one of the chosen few to be allowed a question on #bbcquestiontime this’d be it: Should leaders who bomb hospitals be allowed to exist? I’ll wait.

I love this ‘guy’. So good to have him here on BS.
Not true.

Big thanks to @adobe.com for being flexible with my personal CC account following the chaos with #technicolor. Some companies can be big and still get the little things right. #vfx

Following last week’s VFX implosion, I’m taking a little more time these days to look around me. Snapped these on the beach near my home on a dog walk this morning. #sussex

@serailway.bsky.social utterly wasteful scene at Ashford this morning as your staff shut train doors on ~50 people who were literally seconds late on a connecting train. Staff ignored call from other platform. Huge waste of money and people’s time. Passengers here are rightly furious. Do better.

Hey friends. I’ve submitted a proposal to speak at SXSW London. My talk is about how things like social media and the like are supplanting real human experiences and how we digital creatives can actually counter this through good design. More info in comments.

This problem is older than Facebook (probably much older) but still lingers. CEOs are convinced that customers can’t be customers any more. They have to be product. Here’s an idea. Build something people want to pay for and then let them.
AI licensing...
Techcrunch article highlights how Bluesky's CEO, Jay Graber, is considering raising revenue while still keep core model of the platform appealing to users.

She is considering non-intrusive advertising, possible AI licensing, subscription and selling domain names.
