I mean, it's always hard to open a movie in a week of below freezing temps. And your husband is destroying the country. But that's every week.

Plugging along w-my self-imposed task of cataloguing my book collection. Am up to 916 volumes and anticipate the count passing 1500 with ease. This is reason #1 why do not intend to ever move house again – packing up and then re-organizing my books in another house is a daunting prospect.

Holding your mind focused when you need to work, keeping yourself and your dear ones fed and afloat and hopeful: this is resistance, too.

But it's not the sacred blue, eh @theauthorguy.bsky.social ?
When brilliantly coloured Prussian blue pigment was first introduced in the 1830s, it was such a novelty that some publishers produced aizuri-e (blue-printed pictures using only shades of blue) for the fascinated public.

Adding 15 feet of bookshelf on the only open wall area in my office has allowed me to re-shelve some books & open up my view of some VIBs* that had been hidden behind double-shelved books.

I appreciate that “The Pitt” is available with ASL ( for ppl who can't read the subtitles?) – but it shouldn't be the default setup every time I pull it up to stream.

I am cataloging my books and I am up to 403 individual volumes and am not even close to the halfway point of the count. Since I have multiple copies (intentionally, for different editions, different cover art, etc.) of some books the unique-book count is at 349.
Accounting for duplicates and…🧵

I don't know what’s worse – doomscrolling the news or obsessively checking the weather apps and the app for my weather station to monitor the all-day rain we’re experiencing.

Last night was (hopefully) the last night of holiday-lights lookie-loo traffic on my street. I took down my lights, etc. y’day btwn rain squalls and placed our traditional yard tree at the curb for City pickup – and this person saw fit to drag it into the gutter. 🧵

Delivering the cherrypicker that my Griswoldian neighbors will use to FINALLY take down their Christmas decorations.

Today’s Spelling Bee: I didn’t check “Hints” to see how many pangrams there were before I typed in the one that just jumped out at me, and it kicked me out (as a non-suscriber) with 15 points to the next level. I know that there is at least one more pangram, a longer one.

Cataloging my book collection (slowly) and pulled down a book that I don’t remember having read – only to discover several sticky-note tabs marking passages of note, etc. – proving that I actually had read it.

Memory fails…

Still sputtering along on in my sort-of-in publication-order re-read of the oeuvre of @TheAuthorGuy . After “Fluke” I skipped over “Fool”* and I am now reading “Sacré Bleu”, in my opinion the most challenging of his books… 🧵

* (I will go back and read the three “Fool” books consecutively.)

Hot take as the year wraps up: Nobody cares how many books you read (or listened to) this year.

Pleased to see “Midsomer Murders” back with a new season; disappointed, however, in the quality of the scripts.

If Network NEWSCASTS, and their Late Night Shows, are almost 100% Accurate about a Pathological Liar and Convicted Felon who Incited an Insurrection, tried to Steal a Fair Election and is Covering up Sex Crimes against Children, shouldn't his Disgraceful Presidency be terminated? I say, YES!

Holiday-lights traffic update for my short (675 feet, 16 houses) street in a normally quiet neighborhood: My motion-sensor trail camera recorded 2,215 images between 5:00 pm and 11:45 pm yesterday, a rate of one every 11 seconds (with a 5-second retrigger delay).

I'm looking forward to this weather forecast to keep the hordes of holiday-lights lookie-loos at home and out of my neighborhood this coming week.

Hot (and probably unpopular) take: “Wake Up Dead Man” left me cold. Aren’t there enough earnestly religious people making the world a miserable place without making a whole movie about them?
