As someone who follows the day to day of Congress way more than I should, my firm belief is most people should just assume their politicians are full of shit, ask questions, and if they don’t like the answer (or get met with silence), shame them loudly.

There are four flippable red-to-blue House seats in Pennsylvania next year.

Throw in a popular Josh Shapiro at the top of the ticket and we could be looking at a blue wave in the Keystone State.

We have actual polling in next month's crucial Pennsylvania State Supreme Court retention elections.

The Justices have YES margins ranging from narrow to decent, but with lots of undecideds. Those undecideds will likely vote to retain, but nothing can be assumed.

I wrote a thread in 2021 imagining life in Nazi America as a thought experiment. The goal was to get people to think about how it would affect *them* and not just think about it historically hoping maybe they’d rage against it. Oh well…

i absolutely won't vote for candidates who don't vocally support trans rights. because if they're willing to compromise on one group of people's rights, then they're willing to compromise on more. people are people and human rights should be equal. if a politician doesn't agree, fuck em.

it genuinely bothers me how many people are 'fans' of politicians. i dont like politicians and i think theyre all some flavor of self-serving scumbags. but some people will vote based on name and reputation and not policy.

i think that is probably workable yes. then hold them accountable.

I don't think it's going to work out in the way they think because what they are doing is to actually promote the protest and the date in a way that the organizers can't on their own. So lots of people will now be searching: October 18 protest who would have had no clue before.

Today my daughter's preschool is holding a farewell assembly for one of her classmates whose mother has no choice but to self deport. The school is hoping it will be joyful in tone, so we might make this less upsetting for this 3 year old.

There's just no words for the uselessness of this cruelty.

They are not planning "a violent crackdown" on 10.18. What they are doing is sending a signal to their shock troops to try to cause havoc. But those shock troops will be vastly outnumbered. Go out and protest freely. Do not be cowed.

A number of masked NIPAS officers here now have relieved troopers. These are cops from other suburban departments called in for police "mutual aid." Unsure what, if any, rules these guys have to follow re: face coverings while deployed right now (they are wearing assigned numbers).

Scene here is back to very chill. Broadcast is wandering through the crowd doing interviews, people are sitting on the grass. We also haven't seen the usual number of ICE/CBP vehicles we do on Friday mornings here; seems like less fed traffic overall.
