Pushing past the pain doesn’t work. Ignoring it doesn’t work.

So what do we do when we’re in considerable pain? Blinding pain? Pain that distracts us from living our lives? How do we balance the healing journey with equal parts strength and grace?

Last #Monday we had an appt in #Buffalo, and afterward M said y'know, it's not far to #NiagaraFalls, you guys wanna go? Happily I'd brought my little #NikonCoolpix. Busy week since, first look this morning, here's one #PhotographersOfBluesky #PhotoOfTheDay #PhotoHour #EastCoastKin #waterfall
Don’t forget how much impact you can have simply by believing in another’s potential. Your belief just might lead to their belief in yet another. #5amwritersclub #writesky

I learned this exercise from a fellow teacher at Insight Timer, and I’ve since shared it with wayward writers, leadership students who are trying to figure out what they want to do in the world, and friends who are decent people at a loss.

Thank you @www.jenknox.net and ‪Unleash Creatives for choosing CARSON McCLINTOCK IS NOT DEAD YET as the spring/summer Work-In-Progress Prize winner from among all the wonderful finalists. It's a big honor and a shot in the arm for this new novel about end-of-life care for the indigent elderly.
I think for me the answer is unplugging whenever I can. (Maybe moving to the Highlands, if I can find a way.)
Thanks for the confirmation. I use a lot of creative energy at my day job now, and I find it more challenging to get to that space I need in my head to return to the novel.
Me! I call it clearing the cache.
It's hard to step away, but yes ... we must!

A year ago, I didn’t want to write another book. But an idea took hold, and I am so grateful to be walking with this narrative as I go about my days...
I often find inspiration in transit. On the bus, in the car, on a plane … even while getting dressed. Always when I have somewhere else to be or something else to do.
