Efficiency, optimization, productivity: celebrated as universal goods.

These ideas are especially influential in economics, engineering, and computer science.

But what if they reshape our systems and lives in ways we rarely notice? 🧵

Onshore wind is among the fastest and cheapest renewables we can deploy, and uniquely suited to community ownership.

After years of political delay, we need policy that enables local generation rather than suppressing it.

BREAKING: White House says stop arresting protestors for supporting Palestine Action

Extremely embarrassing for Keir Starmer, this exemplifies how the ban & arrests for holding paper signs have made the UK an anti-free-speech outlier on the global stage

🧵A political/media guide to the "truth" about net-zero

1) Add up costs to install & run a net-zero energy system
2) Pretend fossil-fuelled alternatives wld be free
3) Do say "eco zealots are bankrupting us"
4) Don't say "free cars if we scrap net-zero" cos it sounds ridiculous
5) That's it!

Researchers warn UK has a “finance curse” – an oversized sector extracting wealth instead of creating it.

If Britain wants to feel better off again, we need a financial system that invests in the real economy – not one that gambles with it.

Vital information was shared with over 1,200 people in Westminster at the National Emergency Briefing

It now needs to reach a much wider public

You could help open up serious national discussion on issue of genuine importance 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
@alastaircampbell2.bsky.social & @rory-stewart.bsky.social unfortunately couldn’t make the National Emergency Briefing.

Would they consider having @mikebernerslee.bsky.social on #Leading?🙏

These activists are in grave danger of dying because our government fails to stand against a genocidal regime. If they die their blood will stain this government and all those who have enabled the “war in Palestine” to be persecuted by the apartheid, genocidal, settler war criminals.
