Love this song from John Denver who is sorely missed! I always felt that John Denver was way ahead of us all. He was environmentally friendly and was aware of how important it is to take care of planet earth!

The album this song is from came out 48 years ago today! It had such a huge impact on me that to this day I can remember the road we were driving on in Lynden, WA when I first heard it! We smoked some homegrown and I was in heaven!

I misspelled her name on purpose so that the Sienna stans can't search and find me

There is a hot new songwriter named Sienna Sprio rising up the charts, proving that even now, people are willing to listen to a girl who sits down at her piano, plays her simple love songs unaccompanied, and bellows every note like an enraged rabid elephant. Never let her do the national anthem

Bad Bunny performance so disrespectful, did he not know where he was performing? Singing a song about New York in California, disgraceful

I can't believe I didn't know this but Universal Music Group, one of the Big Three record labels, was owned by (and arguably created by) Seagram, the ginger ale company. And that lasted for a good decade until the company collapsed and now doesn't exist (its brands were all sold to other companies)

Disclaimer: I don't want to act like Kid Rock is dead in the water yet, festival's still on, it still has like six gajillion artists including some very big names. It kicks off in three months and we'll see what has changed by then (let alone in September when it plays its final dates)

I, obviously, was wrong in my Kid Rock episode when I said his MAGA stance had made him a pariah in mainstream music circles, but Trump's re-election getting him a welcome back for a single year just to get violently cast out again is honestly even funnier

Oh WOWWWWWW. Shinedown is pulling out of Kid Rock's Rock the Country festival, and not only that, specifically because it is "divisive"

and of course that seems to be changing, that's why acts are jumping ship. they signed on last year back when they thought passively associating with Kid Rock was good for business and wouldn't reflect badly on them and they're jumping off now that the climate has shifted. 2025 was a strange year

No, though. The concert *isn't* explicitly for loud Republicans. It just features a lot of loud Republicans. For everyone asking, "Oh no my fave is on there, does this mean they're MAGA" it means they like money. the powers that be in Nashville decided that passively tolerating MAGA was lucrative
That’s what makes it odd

This concert is explicitly for LOUD republicans, people who want everyone to know how much they hate you.

If you consider politics a private matter idk why you’d stay besides money (which it may not even make that much of)

Interesting. It's certainly suggestive, but could just be schedule adjustment like happens all the time. Shinedown pulling out and actually saying out loud it was because of Kid Rock's politics is the bigger thing
I was comparing the original line up with the list they've got on the Rock the Country homepage and it looks like Creed might have also pulled out at some point? I'm not seeing any reporting on it anywhere but their name isn't on the list anymore

Notably, 2026 is the second year of Kid Rock's festival. Last year they did a smaller version, headlined by Nickelback, and we did not see a lot of hand-wringing about if Nickelback was MAGA. Shit done changed, and quick

And like, I'm sorry to defend Taylor Swift and her boundless, insatiable greed but I really don't see how she's in the wrong here. Her relationship with YouTube is no longer mutually beneficial and it's at worst the tiniest bit inconvenient for the consumer. Why *should* she be on YT at this point?

...we're now seeing the first fallout from this, which is that Taylor Swift, who is hyper-focused on numbers and loves padding her stats, is only releasing to Spotify now. YouTube is now less than worthless to Taylor, the biggest pop star in the world. YouTube has handed a big win to its competitors

The thing is that Billboard is almost certainly not going to back down. Billboard can't and won't let platforms dictate their formula. YouTube's only leverage is that they're owned by the biggest tech company in the world and can weather whatever hit they take from it. But...

Like most hardball strategies, this is bad for both parties. Billboard doesn't want to get into a "Gangnam Style" situation where they aren't measuring songs properly if most of their views coming from YouTube. Meanwhile, YouTube is just making themselves less relevant until they back down.

...the reason being that Billboard weighs YouTube views as les important than music streams. So to protest, YouTube just took their ball and went home, presumably to pressure Billboard into giving YouTube more weight. So for the moment, YouTube counts for nothing in terms of the Hot 100

i am trying not to joke about the Epstein stuff because it's so horrible but there's also this ridiculous element where it's like... discovering Dracula is real, he's taken over human society at the highest levels, he's involved in tons of evil and also he's a huge dipshit
