Tonight's film was The Idiot (1951). As a film that was shot and edited to be a 4hr 25m film, then had 99 mins cut out to make it 2hrs 46m, it feels like half a film and too damn long at the same time. I'm not usually a fan of Russian literature, and even Kurosawa couldn'tmake it work for me.

my favorite Hayao Miyazaki fact is that he infamously did not give a shit about any of the American releases for his movies until he found out Lauren Bacall was in the Howl's Moving Castle dub and immediately hopped on a flight so he could sit next to her at the premiere.
