My team lead, who does anything but lead, let my director know he would be retiring at the end of the year. They had that discussion in July and I just found out yesterday. Still, plenty of notice, but also explains his extreme avoidance of work lately lol

John Oliver: "If ICE can bother some guys at a roofing job, bystanders can bother ICE at their state-sanctioned kidnapping job."
In this book, some main characters are Jewish, but it’s a high fantasy book with elves. There’s a lot of unwritten historical context in it with antisemitism themes and it’s a good read.

However, being atheist, the real theistic struggles have less hold on me than the fake elves.
💯 a symptom of the patriarchy and racist America.
We are facing major budget cuts at the UW, which includes layoffs.

No one on my team has been laid off.

There’s an optional meeting this morning for Q&A/info.

The man on my team chose not to go because he’s not worried. Me and my POC teammate go because we do not have that OWG confidence. 🙄
Mike mentioned to me today that Moshing is a form of dance and it blew my mind. I always just thought of it as fighting.

“There are rules, it’s a group dance, and it’s high intensity, like folk dancing!”

What do you think? 😂

(wiki thinks it’s definitely dancing btw)
Good morning from vacationtimes! Still dreaming about work, but relaxing as hard as I can.
Did he have SO MUCH potential? 🙄
Cut ties today with someone who has a deep and long history of making extremely poor choices for herself that end in catastrophe. I’m feeling this as an act of healthy intention on my part.

I wish us both well, and we both need to make good choices.

Calm intention has always done me well.
Dreamt last night about an old coworker who got inappropriate with me. In my dream I reported him to HR and we all had a meeting together. HR was a man who thought I was overreacting, plus the coworker was “too valuable” to upset, so they dismissed my complaint.

Fuckin realistic dreams 🤬
The weather is so beautiful and perfect in Madison, Wi, and has been for the past week. I’ve been keeping some windows open.

The only thing spoiling it is the chain smoking neighbors next door 😐
Someone seriously hates sugar!
AI is highly effective in very specific scenarios or when you have a couple hours to spend on the task/hand-holding AI.

We all agreed it cost way too much (and continues to) for so little return. It is great to know I’m surrounded by very intelligent people who aren’t easily hoodwinked.
After two days in the office with coworkers, I’m thankful to be back home.

One round table discussion we had was VERY constructive AND realistic when it comes to using AI tools. We brought in good studies that counterbalanced against hype and landed on “it can be good sometimes for simple tasks.”

It looks like something David Lynch would do haha
A GIGANTIC horsefly, a ripening squash, and a cool split colored daisy. Wisconsin nature is poppin’ this time of year.
I love Wisconsin and I love our governor. It’s not a perfect place, but it continues to move in the right direction.
Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers (D) vetoed a bill Friday that would require voters with felony convictions to pay all outstanding legal fees before their right to vote is restored — a requirement that voting rights advocates slammed as a discriminatory poll tax. www.democracydocket.com/news-alerts/...

Dang it. Is Mamdani going to leapfrog mayor and go straight to the next dem presidential candidate? Can we clone him please?!
The garden is picking up steam! I thought some of the tomato plants were green zebras, but they’re turning yellow and orange, so who knows!

At this rate, I’ll be bringing overflow to the bar on Sundays for Brunch/“Church”.

I have also let several dog walkers know that they should pick freely.
