Just rolled up, immediately saw ISP/CCSO arresting a protester w/ a guitar (he appears to be in good spirits over it).

ICE vehicles have been coming and going, including a large bus driven by a masked agent seen earlier.

it /is/ a mild amount of presumptuousness to believe that was the thought process he was following, as odds are decent his marketing team came up with the idea or wrote part of the monologue. but he's a bright guy and could probably see it once presented with it.

it's symbolism. the response I'm seeing here and elsewhere is overwhelmingly positive. whether that symbolism flies over voters' heads or not, the opposing symbolism you seem to see is definitely not what occupies its place

gein having christine jorgensen tell him he's AGP is "a really cool moment" to the show's dingbat co-creator. a really cool moment that never happened. apparently upholstering furniture with human skin and making a belt out of nipples wasn't "really cool" enough. he had to be trans to spice it up

Later on in the show, Gein imagines talking with Jorgensen and admits that he thinks he is "transsexual." However, Jorgensen tells him that he's not transgender, but instead gynephilic, a term referring to intense attraction to the female image or femininity.

In reality, it's unknown whether or not Gein ever actually identified as gynephilic. The show's creators later explained to Tudum that they added the clarification to not conflate Gein's crimes with transgender identity.

"It was really important for us to make that distinction, for us to say, ‘Look, these are two very different things,’ ” co-creator Ian Brennan explained. “And it was cool to be able to put it in the mouth of Christine Jorgensen. For him to be told that through her in his mind was a really cool moment.”

these shows embellish the killer and their misdeeds, with victims being speed bumps to quickly get past on the way to more fetishizing the killer, who I guess in gein's case needed to have this insulting explanation for his motives clumsily glued onto him, as if with elmer's glue, by a preschooler

they just can't help but editorialize to add shock value or capitalize on current controversies to draw attention to the show. netflix mucked up "dahmer" by fetishizing him and using victims as disposable plot chaff, lined up to be gruesomely slaughtered as the sole purpose of their existence
