Excited to be leading the on the ground work in this project to remediate the historic #metalmine #pollution from Barney Beck in #Swaledale with #NidderdaleNationalLandscape - great to have made a start and looking forward to posting updates.

We have been out with #WildTroutTrust carrying out #fish surveys in the #Swale catchment.
Electro-fishing is a great tool for monitoring local fish populations & #river health.
Trout, minnow, bullhead, grayling, stickleback and brook lamprey found! 🐟🐟🐟

We know a #hosepipe ban is inconvenient 💧 😬 , but please remember the more water we take out of the environment to use for drinking / watering / washing, the less there is left for #wildlife 🐟 🐛.
Please be careful with your use of water to protect our watery habitats and wildlife. 🙏

🚨 Yorkshire just had its driest and hottest spring on record, with only 15cm of rain. A drought was declared in June, and a hosepipe ban begins 11th of July.

☀️ It's not just Yorkshire. 2025 brought the UK's driest spring in over 50 years.

Wild swimming is fun, great for #mind & body and also connects you to #nature.
To stay safe #wildswimming; swim with a buddy, research the swim spot for depth & hidden hazards, check water conditions & be aware of cold water shock. Remember, many rivers look clear - but are polluted.
