Character bios for my work in progress retro-future sci-fi series Moving Parts! Might as well make a thread that I periodically update since it’s been a few months since I made the initial post.

“Amelia “Amy” Burroughs is a young girl who eats, sleeps, and breathes technology. Think the scatterbrained genius of Doc Brown with the pluck and determination of Leslie Knope from Parks and Recreation, mixed together with the raw unfiltered enthusiasm of a young preteen girl. Amy’s aspiring to become a great inventor, just like her dad, Thomas. The only problem is that she isn’t very good. But what she lacks in prowess (and for that matter, common sense), she makes up for with a sheer, unadulterated love of her craft. Even if the odds are stacked against her - and they frequently are - she works as hard as she can to overcome them. Above all else, Amy is a dreamer, and she does what she does because she genuinely wants to use her talents to help make the world a better place for everyone to live in. Amy might even be one of the most powerful minds in the world...she just doesn’t know it yet.

“Mouser is Amy’s very first robot, a mouse-shaped machine with wheels, built with her dad back when she was just a kid. Mouser is part pet, part Swiss army knife, and can transform into a variety of tools to help Amy complete her projects. Mouser is fiercely loyal to his owner, and does whatever he can to make sure that Amy stays safe -- which is difficult, seeing as he’s the size of a toy car.”

“Genevieve Johnson, or “Gen” as Amy calls her, is a very mousey, meticulous person - the kind of girl who can't start working until she has every pencil precisely lined up, every label applied neatly, her favorite lo-fi music playlist on at a respectable volume, etc.

The two have an almost Odd Couple dynamic together: Amy is very loud, chaotic, and outspoken on her beliefs, but her outlandish inventions frequently backfire; whereas Gen has great, practical ideas and the knowledge to back them up, but is very shy, awkward and introverted. But the two share a mutual love of engineering and building, and have the same goal of making the world better. They complement each other.”
