And there’s the issue of masks. ... ICE goes masked for a single reason -- to terrorize Americans into quiescence. Small wonder ICE often seems to need our respected military to guard them as they go about implementing our immigration laws. It should be noted that our troops do not ordinarily wear masks. Can you imagine a masked marine? It is a matter of honor -- and honor still matters. To us, masks are associated with cowardly desperados and the despised Ku Klux Klan. In all our history we have never tolerated an armed masked secret police. Carrying on in this fashion, ICE brings indelible obloquy to this administration and everyone who works in it. “We can not escape history,” Lincoln rightly said. “[It] will light us down in honor or dishonor, to the latest generation.”

hey @nytimes.com: there is no counterpoint here. There are no credible legal experts who would EVER say that the US military has any right or authority to blow civilian craft out of the Caribbean and kill their crews from afar without any provocation. There is no other side to this question.

The City of New Orleans has recently been made aware of online chatter suggesting that a global rapture event may occur tomorrow. Tbh, seems sus, but current models reportedly indicate that individuals described as
"pious" could be transported to a non-terrestrial realm ("Heaven"), while the remaining population, colloquially referred to as "sinners," will remain here on Earth.
Based on available data, residents and visitors to the Greater New Orleans area should not anticipate any measurable reduction in local population as a result of such an event. In fact, preliminary projections show a slight uptick as non-raptured individuals from surrounding regions relocate to New Orleans due to our established sinnin' infrastructure.
The City stands ready to provide the same lack of basic services you've come to expect during normal times after any such event; including, but not limited to, intermittent power outages, boil water advisories, and roaches big enough to pull a sled. Residents are encouraged to treat the rapture much like Mardi Gras, only global in scope.
Put simply, this is what we've been training for. If there was ever a time for us to shine, that time is now. LFG.

De joven se entiende porque todo es para hoy. Pero con el tiempo queda claro que no hay cosa más absurda que tener prisa para escribir. Es como tener prisa para dormir, un oxímoron. No que ya nunca aparezca la adrenalina, pero lo hace de otra manera, como cuando uno acelera en la curva.
